Who I Am

Shaya Guttman has been involved with “Desktop Publishing” almost since its inception. After setting up the in-house design department at The Announcements, a local Monsey advertising magazine, he went on to incorporate his own design firm in 1987. Focusing on publications, over the years he was art director for Good Fortune Magazine, The Network Magazine of NJ, Kosher Today, Chai Today, and the Jewish Holiday Consumer. He also did packaging design for a number of kosher food companies.

Shaya has also done web design for over 15 years, with clients too numerous to mention. As graphics director for Landscapers Supply Corp., he created and managed a commercial site with over 2000 products, and he developed and maintained the website of Active Ventilation Products for over 15 years until the operation was taken in-house.

In fact, Shaya’s commercial work has encompassed almost everything, including logo design, print flyers, catalogs, invitations, brochures, and dinner journals. For many years, he designed directories for Jonas Publishing (a Howard Jonas company), and did countless ads for retail stores like Pearl Experience and Monsey Milan. He has also served a number of non-profit organizations including Institutions of New Square, Chabad of the Mid-Hudson Valley, and Tomche Shabbos of Monsey.

In addition, his many talents make him a valuable resource for all types of creative work, including music composition, arrangement, and performance; fine art production; video creation and copy writing. These skills are displayed on his sites RebShaya.com and JewsAlive.com. He is presently moving in the direction of creating materials for Jewish outreach projects.

Since moving to Israel over 10 years ago, his involvement in commercial design has decreased, largely to make time for an expanded schedule of Torah learning. However, he still finds time for projects that utilize his skills and benefit his clients.
